At Digital Twenty Four, we love working with innovative businesses and owners who want to achieve more with their business through digital marketing. We think their stories deserve to be shared, so we’re featuring some of the most inspiring stories from these exciting innovators on our blog. The latest in our series of entrepreneurs who are blazing trails is Louise Loughran, owner of Doll Face House of Make Up in Cookstown.
Born out of a passion for all things make-up, Louise established her thriving business in 2011 and it quickly became renowned as an Aladdin’s cave for make-up professionals and amateur enthusiasts alike. Find out more about her business and her motivations behind it.
1.Why are you in business?
Simply for the love of all things makeup! 🙂
2. How did you get started in this business?
In my final year of my law degree I was able to pick modules so I was able to get a Monday off, allowing me to start a makeup artistry course that ran every Monday. I then worked as a freelance makeup artist and on makeup counters for the next 4 years. After having my son, I wanted to work from one base so I opened Doll Face.
3. How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
I have completed many makeup courses and continue to do so as it is an industry you are never done learning in. My previous work experiences as a freelance artist and in sales have also given me valuable insights into the industry.
4. How has technology, such as computers and the internet, impacted on how you conduct business?
Social media is a great way to reach out to people interested in the Doll Face brand and allows us to interact with them, while online shopping has opened up our potential market area. It has made advertising a lot cheaper and more cost effective than print.
5. Whom do you seek advice from for your business?
My parents, they have been in business for a long time and always have great advice for me.
6. Why do your customers select you over your competitors?
We are the one-stop-shop for all aspects of makeup artistry, using the most coveted brands in the industry. We offer discounts to makeup artists and other professionals like beauty therapists, hairdressers, models, dancers, actors etc.
A huge thanks to Louise for sharing her story with us – if you’re in anyway interested in make-up or beauty, her website www.dollfacehouseofmakeup.com is an absolute must-visit!
